Girl, Adopted

This is a film about a fourteen year old Ethiopian girl adopted from an orphanage to an American couple. This girl was not trafficked in any way that I can see. It is a must see for everyone in the progressive community, and particularly those with ties to adoption.

This story shows the complexities of adoption, of loss, of what is new. I love these adoptive parents because they loved their adoptive daughter enough to return with her to Ethiopia for her to look up family and connect with her roots.

Please, please watch this short film, it is incredibly insightful.

Great story and very inspiring. Wonder if perhaps she would have had an easier time assimilating if she was in a more diverse community. Have to give her adoptive parents a lot of credit, obviously they loved her dearly, even when she was being difficult, they were both very intelligent and tried very hard to relate to how she was feeling even admitting they couldn't. Was really taken by how loving this family was and glad to see she stayed with them. She's a gorgeous girl with a great personality and I think she will do well in life.

That trip to Kenya seemed to free her from the feeling that since she didn't fit in with Americans, she would definitely fit in with Kenyans. The rose-colored view of her childhood homeland held her back.

She has a beautiful relationship with her family. Great video, thanks for posting.
