Bad week for NC GOP on race relations?

So to crown it the Governor of North Carolina went to court to defend the voter restriction law and tonight he is honoring Jesse Helms.

For some time now I have been trying to make the argument that most Conservative Republicans are not white racists and that they can disagree with liberals when we talk about issues like affirmative action or crime in Urban America. However when the Governor and North Carolina Republicans try to restrict access to the ballot and honor the late Jesse Helms I wonder if I'm being naïve.

There are ReTHUGs who aren't racist, but as long as they don't call out the racists, they too are part of the problem.
