GOP event hails ‘superhero’ Ted Cruz as right-wing Jesus

Conservative activists compared Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to Jesus Christ during an event Friday, earning a chorus of amens from the audience of Iowa Republicans.

Steve Scheffler, a conservative Christian activist, thanked God for the freshman Texas senator who helped engineer the 16-day government shutdown in his effort to derail the Affordable Care Act.

He also prayed for more conservative leaders like Cruz who were willing to “be crucified for their belief system,” reported BuzzFeed.

The Republican establishment, including Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Orrin Hatch, have criticized Cruz for his legislative efforts to defund or delay Obamacare, but tea party activists applaud his stance.

“Every time one of these guys attacks him, it’s good for him,” said one Iowa Republican operative. “He’s like a superhero. The more bullets that get shot at him, the bigger and stronger he gets.”

SO the waste of 24 billion dollars makes Cruz into Jesus? The cray cray is off the charts with these Teabaggers! They might be the most dangerous threat to America, since 9/11.

I live in Iowa, and these right-wing yahoo nutjobs are an embarrassment to our state. They are the reason that we have Steve ("They're calves are as big as cantaloupes&quot King.

With that said, this news is no big surprise. These fundies are well organized, but they often are so misguided and stunted from listening to Glenn Beck/Sean Hannity/Rush Limbaugh that they erroneously believe that their views are popular. Not so.

The good news is--let these nutters pick the Republican presidential nominee. PLEASE. It destroys their party. Please remember that Rick Santorum won the last Iowa caucus here, over Mitt Romney. In 2008, Mike Huckabee won.

Pat Robertson (yes, THAT Pat Robertson!) came in second in 1998.

No way could any of those nutjob fundies win a GE. But don't tell those crazy, myopic right-wingers in Iowa this. They are too busy putting the Jebus crown on every nutjob radical that thinks like they do. They are too blind to see that someone who believes as they do---would tank in a Presidential election.

Celebrate these goofs. They will blindly anoint their sainted candidate, then lose horrifically in a general Presidential election.
