In China some American websites are blocked from their view. I am wondering if this has started to happen here?

(27,247 posts)I think that explains a lot.

(20,776 posts)in my honest opinion, Art. Once you could find anything, anywhere.. NOW ITS LIKE the only food in town is McDonalds and you can't find any other kind of restaurant anywhere.

(27,247 posts)Oftentimes, when I search for an image with key words, I'll get dozens of images that have no relation whatsoever to my search

(20,776 posts)I searched for "Fuji san" and "Mt. Fuji" and got images of some mountains in Washington State..and Mt. Shasta in California..
I was like what??? wow... really.

(4,840 posts)And even THAT was unintended because my post originally recommended Trueveo.com but a quick check revealed Trueveo was no more (bought up by, guess who, AOL). So I quickly edited my post to redirect Kimi San to AOL.
Truveo was probably the best video search engine ever but apparently AOL's version is not up to snuff.

unsophisticated (by design), but safe, search engine, which doesn't mess with your privacy.
from PC Magazine's 'Top 100 Websites of 2011':
".... Growing since its launch five years ago, DuckDuckGo is the search engine for the rest of usthose who like their privacy and extra relevance to search results, that is. It may just be following the "Don't be evil" credo that Google once espoused, with promises of less spam and clutter on results, which is a great start. by Eric Griffith ...."

(4,444 posts)seriously, do some research.
and google bought youtube. Your complaint is like going to a Honda dealership and complaining they only carry Hondas.
and it started a week or so ago.
AsahinaKimi
(20,776 posts)And you said it started a week or so ago... I didn't have this information. Where would I even be notified about this kind of thing. I don't know if anyone on DU has mentioned it... this is the first I have heard of it.
DO research? I used Yahoo, Google, Bing... a few others...all pointing me back to YOUTUBE.com for this song.
Its like trying to get directions to get on the freeway..and someone saying " YOU CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE..."

(4,787 posts)I first searched "DIVE TO BLUE" (with the quotes) then clicked on 'videos' in the left hand navigation panel:
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22DIVE+TO+BLUE%22&num=100&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US fficial&prmdo=1&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=vid&ei=5hJXT8-hC9LD0AGK0PTkDw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=4&ved=0CCIQ_AUoAw&biw=1403&bih=706

(20,776 posts)That wasn't what i got....that page. I got a ton of videos that were Youtube..that were COVERS...I think they call them. That's where people try to sing the song... and as for the Song by L'arc en ciel ..its been removed by the Sony Corporation.
on your link i found this:
http://www.animelyrics.com/jpop/larcenciel/divetoblue.htm
totally excellent!!! This is classic L'arc en Ciel sung by Hyde... I LOVE this song...its a good thing
i purchased it when I did... JUST its hard to find any of their videos.. since Sony Corp has requested they be blocked.

(25,921 posts)Youtube has gotten so big that they tend to dominate any video search. So if you want to find a video, but don't want any youtube links, just put in "-youtube" at the end of your search:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=dive+to+blue+-youtube <--This is the ordinary search, so you'll have to click on "videos" at the left

(31,170 posts)You can still search for other videos, it's just that they list youtube up top
