Limbaugh: Sponsors are like french fries

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0312/73734.html

<snip>
Embattled conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday dismissed reports of dozens of advertisers pulling their commercials from his show, telling listeners, “Everything is fine on the business side. Everything’s cool. There is not a thing to worry about.”

Limbaugh, citing claims he had lost 28 sponsors, said that is “out of 18,000. That’s like losing a couple of french fries in the container when it’s delivered to you in the drive thru. You don’t even notice it.”

<snip>

Or maybe it's like losing a couple of Oxycontin pills, you can always have your maid get you some more.

Or is the contradictory nature of his statement supposed to go unnoticed?

Rush's show has seven network avails (potential commercials) an hour, three hours a day, five days a week.

For him to have 18,000 advertisers he would need to have a different advertiser for every commercial avail in his show for three years.

He has 600+ stations and each local station runs up to 30 local advertisers a week. So that is a potential of 18,000.

Dunno how many stations he is on, but perhaps if you added up all the local advertising...

Seems to me that Rush could sniff out a french fry that fell behind the couch and became petrified and decide it was still edible. Strange analogy to use.
