1. "Support the troops". Boy, there's a phrase you don't hear anymore.

We're only encouraged to "support the troops" when there's a war to sell, and everyone is supposed to just accept the stupid idea that the people carrying the rifles want nothing more than to go shoot some poor son of a bitch for the crime of living on a piece of real estate that some corporate assholes want.

5. The knob heads only want you to support the troops

when they are killing/invading for the flag.

Only after the troops are injured or of are no present service do the crickets chirp the loudest.

2. We Need An Illustration Of What The Image Of A Welfare Queen Is

There we would have pics of a senior, a child, someone in wheelchair, one in military garb, one typical retail worker etc. While the hate fest on radio keeps churning out images of a person driving a fancy car and wearing designer clothes the stark reality is they are pure and simple people who have earned their stripes(seniors)those who are dealt a bad deal(disabled),those in the military who do not see Pentagon style wages or benefits, and all those who work minimum wage from waitress's to cashiers to bed maids in hotels. They often have few options to earn more money so the food budget takes a hit often enough without the government slashing at will while planning even more cuts.
How can we call ourselves a civilized society when the fat cats of Wall Street or any number of corporations are getting bonus's,raises and profits while allowing a huge portion of our society to go hungry? History is full of events like this but who ever thought they we would be part of a modern day corporate society that allows hunger, fights allowing everyone affordable insurance,sends more jobs overseas then they try to keep here, force the homeless off every street corner (but never helping them get a place to live) and build far more homes for the upper class then the lower--even senior housing is in rare supply unless you have the big $$$$. This is becoming a sad world.
