Even if you swallow the media line about Christie being a moderate, and his victory being one for moderate Republicans, why should we expect him to govern as a moderate once in office? We saw this before, when W was the supposed moderate, who then surrounded himself with the Neoconservatives in his cabinet who ended up running the show.
Why wouldn't Christie similarly be nothing more than a rubber stamp for the fringe right in the House? Do we really expect him to veto bills from his own party because they're too extreme?

(12,265 posts)and the scrutiny begins in ernest, stuff will come out. I also do not think he can handle a national press gaggle following him everywhere without blowing his top. He is a bully plain and simple.
I also do not think he satisfies te right wing nuts in the party. I see the primary ads now showing him walking with President Obama, praising him after Sandy. That is the kiss of death with a lot of these nutcases who now call themselves Republicans.
Do I worry about Christie, more than Cruz or Rubio because I think he plays the role better than most. But I feel the mask can only last so long until people realize he is anti teacher, anti working person, anti woman. That will not fly with the independents he needs to win.
