I'm wondering what you consider cyber stalking? In a conversation in a different thread it was mentioned that a blog entry seems to entail cyber stalking. The entry in question is about the rape of a friend and the not guilty verdict of the defendant.

The blog has been hacked numerous times directly after the rape entry was written. Others have since written about the case and have received phone calls with thinly veiled threats. Some of the threats have been bad enough that the police have been contacted, though no one can prove who is making the threats.
So, is a blog entry cyber stalking? Is an article published online by a newspaper cyber stalking? Is my writing about this considered cyber stalking?

So, cyber stalking consists of physical threats?

(36,221 posts)imho. It is done to place fear into a persons mind. It is especially concerning if the person who is being threatened can be personally identified.

In the other thread I've been informed that what I'm doing is cyber stalking. (Talking about a rape case and bringing attention to it, asking that others bring attention to it.) According to local pd it is absolutely NOT cyber stalking. I'm just trying to find out what is and what is not cyber stalking.

I haven't followed this, but I did just read the KC link and that is a pretty ugly set of events. Why did the military take over the case, and should they have. Can he be tried again by the civilian courts?

(29,674 posts)The military often takes DWI cases from the county, since sentences tend to be higher on base with a conviction. I don't know why this case was taken by the military, except that supposedly a sentence would be longer if convicted.

Asking Anonymous to get involved (presumably to do some sort of damage) and making sure this guy is followed for the rest of his life despite a not guilty verdict comes pretty close to qualifying a cyber-stalking, IMO.
Just curious...if someone were to post your actual information on multiple forums, contacting your commanding officer, basically asking that you be harrassed (Hell, get Anonymous' attention), would that be okay with you?
Oh: And Boman is not a "perp." He was acquitted.

(29,674 posts)and now an article from the KC Star brings it further into the public eye. So, by what you're saying, not only am I responsible for cyber stalking but the KC Star would also be because not only did they publish the info via print but online and have an open comment section.

(12,778 posts)What I am going to say at this point is that it's useless for us to continue this conversation. We have completely opposite points of view on everyone involved, including Boman, Phegley, and the Dawn blogger, and we are never going to agree.
Yes, all of their public information is out there. Do whatever with it.
