according to that logic. I don't see the problem with having priests *IF* you also include the viewpoint of actual women - the ones affected by the thing under discussion. But a gaggle of priests with no women was a sick joke, and Ms. Fluke's marital status doesn't change her status as a woman.

Frankly I'm surprised it's even as big as an issue as it is. Sure, Sandra Fluke got insulted. Rush was insensitive, crass, and even a bit immature. But it actually pales in comparison to other issues in the country today, such as the state of the economy, and the fact that most of the media seems to be willing to lie in order to trick us into supporting war with Iran. A potentially devastating war, which would have far worse effects than some idiot ranting on the radio.

In the end, people got what they wanted. Advertisers pulled out from Rush Limbaugh's show.

Limbaugh isn't the problem; he's a symptom of the problem. Even if every single advertiser dropped him and he went off the air, the GOP's misogyny would still be influencing state legislatures all over the country to enact oppressive legislation that severely curtails women's reproductive rights. Something that negatively affects over 50% of the population is a big damn deal.

There IS no bigger issue in the US today than the power of Limpballs and the rest of his clones. And what I want, and the country needs, is for these malignant tumors to be removed from what was once a democracy. As soon as this cancer has been wiped out by whatever means necessary, we'll start to recover.

I'll be behind him 100%. Even if we go to war for the wrong reasons the worst that happens is we topple a misogynist, homophobic anti-semitic theocracy so at least some good will come out of of it.
I could care less if we need to go to war with them. It's much more worrisome that there are people who think like the bearded iranian theocrats in the United States - like rick santorum or rush limbaugh.

"Pish posh! A single woman has no status....and cannot possibly develop the nuance of reason and logic that a man has by birthright. It is unnatural for a women to be given a platform for speaking. It is unheard of! It would be the collapse of civilization! What next!? Trousers? Yes voting would be next and then we would all truly be sorry.

Now don't misconstrue me woman are vital and needed members of our modern society, I have met many a sturdy woman that could in a pinch be taught basic mathematics. They make fine bookkeepers a reasonable profession for a barren spinster or widow, as such even married women are only allowed to comment on things they know and excel at such as: the female vocations like the rearing of children and those household activities that men cannot be bothered with...Testify indeed, what good would come of such nonsense."

WTF does that have to do with it? According to Church doctrine, contraception is always evil:

Contraception is wrong because it’s a deliberate violation of the design God built into the human race, often referred to as "natural law." The natural law purpose of sex is procreation. The pleasure that sexual intercourse provides is an additional blessing from God, intended to offer the possibility of new life while strengthening the bond of intimacy, respect, and love between husband and wife. The loving environment this bond creates is the perfect setting for nurturing children.

Then, "equally to be excluded, as the teaching authority of the Church has frequently declared, is direct sterilization, whether perpetual or temporary whether of the man or woman" (Humanae Vitae, 14). This condemns tubal ligations, vasectomies, and the Pill. "Similarly excluded is every action which, either in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an end or as a means, to render procreation impossible" (Humanae Vitae, 14). Such unnatural forms include the Pill, the intrauterine device, foams, diaphragms, condoms, withdrawal, mutual or solitary masturbation and sodomistic practices.
