(22,146 posts)3. It took awhile, but my neighbor is finally enrolled as of today!!
She is 59 years old and a smoker and self employed. Her monthly premium, thanks to subsidies will now be $172/month vs. her current payment of $697/month!!!
All of the parameters change (deductible/out of pocket costs/etc) depending on your income. She is very, very happy. She is a Republican and was very skeptical of signing up for this, however, she had tears in her eyes when she saw her savings.
She is going to tell her other self employed friends to check it out .

the GOP will call it ACA and try to make everyone forget that it was Obama that made it a reality. A few years from now, they'll be claiming credit for it.
