WASHINGTON (September 3, 2013) – The Howard University Ronald W. Walters Leadership and Public Policy Center announces the selection of Ronald V. Dellums, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and mayor of Oakland, CA, as the institute’s first visiting fellow. Dellums gained national prominence through four decades of public service and as a successful leader in congressional struggles against South African apartheid.

Through the visiting fellow program, former elected or appointed officials are selected to share expertise with the Ronald Walters Center and the campus community. Dellums will present lectures on topics that include political science, African studies and social work. He will also participate in informal sessions with students interested in public service careers.

“My hope is that I can establish dialogue with young people,” Congressman Dellums said. “I hope to impart and communicate passion about the victories we won in freedom, peace, justice and equality. Young people need to occupy that turf and declare that we are not going backward.”

He went to Oakland to thank Dellums and he also met him in Zambia shortly after his release from prison. There are lots of unsung heroes out there.

Interesting to see that Colin Powell is the most visible Re[bTHUG discussing Mandela. Where oh where is that war criminal of a dick?
