Honor Mandela...FIGHT AUSTERITY AND EXPLOITATION!
In Nelson Mandela's lifetime, his country gained political liberation and the end of part of the apartheid system.
But the economic wing of apartheid...free market capitalism coupled with crippling austerity.
The country is still struggling to recover from the IMF "structural adjustment" policy the U.S.(unforgiveably, under the allegedly "Democratic" Clinton Administration)forced it to accept.
This policy imposed massive cuts in spending that have made it impossible to give the majority the education they deserve and the basic services, such as healthcare, that they need. It has also kept the country's unemployment rate much higher than it ever needed to be. All three of these problems have been the major causes of the post-liberation crime and violence that plague South Africa to this day.
South Africa cannot be truly free, and violence and racial and social tensions cannot be eased, until it has gained freedom from want and freedom from exploitation for all of its people, until a fully-funded healthcare system exists for all, and until education is available equally and at low cost or no cost for all.
Freedom means freedom from poverty and hopelessness...in South Africa and here!
Honor the man...honor what he fought for...and carry on the struggle, wherever it may go on!
