Wind chill is just a metric that allows weather forecasters to make it sound like it's colder than it is. Not that one should go out in single digit temps with gale force winds.

I basically ignore wind chill because I have thermals and a well stuffed down parka with warm boots and gloves. I rarely go out in the winter naked when wind chill would be an operative metric, except for maybe my face.

"...because I have thermals and a well stuffed down parka with warm boots and gloves."

Dangerous wind chills can cause frostbite on exposed skin within 20 to 30 minutes and possibly hypothermia if one isn't dressed properly.

Right now where I live, it's 1 below zero but with the wind chill, it's 22 below.

It was 9 degrees and "feels like -14." Checking the hourly forecast, it's supposed to be zero in another hour or so.

I have to bundle up and troop out to the barn to feed horses, but that will at least wait until it's light out there.

I still walked the 1.6 miles to my weekly hangout at Starbucks. After about 20 minutes, you hardly feel anything.
