House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester, said on Thursday that Republicans should support their partys gay candidates.
The issue came up after Politico reported earlier this week that one GOP lawmakerRep. Randy Forbes of Virginiahad been pressuring his colleagues and the House GOPs campaign committee not to give money or other assistance to any openly gay Republicans.
Boehner offered a two-word answer when asked at his weekly press conference if he thought the GOP should support congressional candidates who are gay: I do.
He also said the partys leaders are trying to make its male candidates more sensitive when theyre running against a female opponent or trying to appeal to women voters.
Some of our members just arent as sensitive as they ought to be, Boehner said. You look around the Congress (and) there are a lot more females in the Democrat caucus than there are in the Republican caucus.

(6,342 posts)They are already walking a dangerous line. I wonder if Mr. Speaker is being trashed by the right-wing talk shows just for suggesting this stuff?

This is probably an attempt by Boehner to continue the GOP gravy train - becuase really, who else are the religious wackos going to vote for?

(14,255 posts)human beings, he is just advising on how to trick those "others" who, unfortunately, are allowed to vote, into voting GOP.
Boehner is just doing a Cesar Millan thing here.
He reeks of insincerity.
