Cops Accused of Overkill on Sick Woman

SHERMAN, Texas (CN) - As her husband begged them to "put the gun away," Texas police repeatedly shot and Tasered a demented 67-year-old woman because she wouldn't drop a letter opener, then told the husband they had "saved his ass," the man claims.

David Seyfried sued the City of Lewisville Police Department and six of its officers in Federal Court, for his wife Dolores Seyfried.

Seyfried says he called the Dallas Alzheimer's Association hotline after "Dolores had become agitated with (him) and had a four [to] five-inch letter opener in her hand" at their home in Lewisville, a Dallas suburb.

"Letalien immediately attempted to remove David from the back yard while holding an orange shotgun in his hand," the complaint states. "David became very upset once he saw the shotgun and believed at that time that there was no need for such measures. David repeatedly pleaded with Letalien to 'put the gun away' and explained that he can calm her down and that no force would be needed.

MCKINNEY - The president and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Dallas was arrested and charged with criminal sexual contact with a minor under 13.

The alleged crime occured in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Michael Spencer was listed as the Crime Stoppers Fugitive of the Week.

Spencer is being held in the Collin County Jail in McKinney.

i feel for the husband.

have a friend in a similar situation--last god damn thing you want to do is call the police
even if your situation is not good. Cause when the cops show up, things get formal, and formal is often
worse than before.

He called the Dallas Alzheimer's Association hotline not the cops. These hotlines no matter what for call the cops first.

I called 911 for my daughter having trouble breathing and the first person to knock on the door was a deputy. I told him I needed EMT not police and I didn't call the Sheriff Dept. He demanded access and I made him stand at the doorway. I told him if he didn't have an oxygen tank, his presence wasn't required unless he was medically trained. This pretense for law enforcement access during a medical event is ludicrous.

4. If a family member is in mental health crisis don't call 911

If you say they have any kind of weapon or have hit you they will send the police and if the person refuses to follow their commands the police will shot them dead.

If you need to report a crime go to the police station and if you have to call 911 to have an officer meet you at the police station. You never want to invite a police officer onto your property or into your home for any reason.

Also when you call 911 for a medical emergency give them your name state the medical emergency and the address. Once the 911 call taker has all the correct information hang up. They will automatically call you back do not answer.

Personally I no longer call 911 unless it directly involves my family or me in a fire or medical emergency.
