Georgia has tax payer dollars going to religious schools and they provide tax breaks to companies that allot the money to the religious school. They even let people specify that their own children will get the tax payer funded religious scholarship at that particular religious school. The US government is a joke in regards to enforcement of that clause your quoting. There is no such thing. One more American idealist hope that is not a reality. On top of that all churches pay no taxes even though they are business's (usually run by charlatans). It's pure hypocrisy and nothing short of a joke. The US has no spine in regards to that clause.

Especially when you live in a state that does not protect LGBTQ people.

My friend was just fired for getting a marriage license so he can finally marry his partner or 12 years.
