Over 50 years ago an 11 year old girl taught me about poor kids at Christmas that don't get toys

When I was growing up, I had an uncle that was a salesman for Decca Records. "I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus" was one of the many records we got over the years. I haven't really thought about this song in years. It was playing in the grocery store today. And yes I sang along.

A nice reminder to think of kids that don't have it so good: http://www.omaha.com/article/20131207/NEWS/131209053/1707#omaha-shelters-packed-past-capacity-as-freezing-weather-continues

Brenda's official web page: http://www.brendalee.com/ Her big Christmas hit "ROCKIN AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE" first charted in 1960.

Youtube of the song below and an old photo too.

I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus Lyrics

It was written by JONES, WILBUR / ADAMS, FRANKIE.

I'm gonna lasso Santa Claus
And I know just why because
I'm gonna pull, pull, pull, on his beard
Pull, pull, to see if it's real

I'm gonna tick, tick, tickle him on the tummy
Because he laughs so funny
He's so jolly and so fine
When he comes around on Christmas time

I'm gonna lasso Santa Claus
And the reason is because
I know a boy and girl he never goes see
He never brings 'em toys like he does for me

I'm gonna pop, pop Santa Claus
With my water pistol gun
And then I'll take his bags of toys and run
And bring to all the kids who don't have none

I'm gonna lasso Santa Claus
And I know just why because
I'm gonna pull, pull, pull, on his beard
Pull, pull, to see if it's real

I'm gonna tick, tick, tickle him on the tummy
Because he laughs so funny
He's so jolly and so fine
When he comes around on Christmas time

I'm gonna lasso Santa Claus
And the reason is because
I know a boy and girl he never goes see
He never brings 'em toys like he does for me

I'm gonna pop, pop Santa Claus
With my water pistol gun
And then I'll take his bags of toys and run
And bring to all the kids who don't have none

One side of Brenda's first Christmas single (Decca 88215), backed with "Christy Christmas."

It is incorrectly credited to "Little Brenda Lee (9 Years Old)," but Brenda was actually 11 when she recorded these two songs, and turned 12 before Christmas in 1956
