Here is a challenge for those of you celebrating with natural trees this year.

How about replacing it with one in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil for one dollar/tree? It's a gift to the environment that the whole world can enjoy:

The "@" apparenlty nukes the url for the picture.

I'm not affiliated. I am a contributor. (A previous owner of my house didn't consider that trees get bigger over time and that maybe planting 15 of them next to the house and under power lines in wasn't the best of ideas. I have been planting 10 in Brazil for every one I remove.

We have been buying a live potted fir or spruce tree which we bring in briefly for the holiday, take back outside to spend the rest of the winter, & then plant in the spring.

Not that I have anything against planting trees in Brazil, just describing what we do.

I'm confident in that fact.

At my union workplace we have some live trees in pots from a local farm. I'm going to buy one and later I will put it on my balcony (I live in apt so have no yard to plant it in). I am going to keep it trimmed small so I can just re-use it next year.

I love the idea you share in your OP! Absolutely brilliant!
