I guess this might be Lounge material, but the falls is a short drive from Seattle and I go there when I need renewal. It is sacred to the Snoqualmie tribe and I guess you could say it is to me too. It's known to most as the lodge (which sits at the top) on Twin Peaks.
Today, in the deep cold, it is miraculous. This is raw footage from one of the news channels.

(2,682 posts)although I live just north of Seattle. I remember Snoqualmie Falls Lodge BEFORE it became commercialized beyond all recognition. They were once famous for their breakfasts -- an embarrassment of food served family style -- everything from oatmeal (which can be found now in grocery stores in the area) to eggs, pancakes, etc. etc. Once in the 1980's I took an Australian client of the law firm I was working for to dinner there. It was beautiful with the lights splashed all over the falls at night. In 1991, when we had Soviet visitors during the Goodwill Games, I took a Ukrainian doctor who was staying at my house to see the falls during the day. I went again in the late 1990's with a friend just to see the sights. That may have been the last time I was there. Thanks for reminding me that the Falls are still there. I'll have to make plans to go there sometime. Probably in the Spring.

(14,087 posts)I can see why it is considered sacred; it takes your soul to a really nice place.
Thanks, nolabear! I live on the east coast. If I was closer, I'd plan a trip up there.
Wow. Just wow. Looks mighty cold, too.

(8,419 posts)Will be up in January, will try to make a trip out there. We went out in June, when we got off the freeway we were sitting at the light just off the 90 waiting to drive up Snoqualmie parkway. About 100 yards up a little cub goes bouncing across the street and up the hillside. It took me a few seconds to register, then drove up to where he was playing on the hillside, after another few seconds it registered, Mama can't be too far away.

(41,990 posts)The PNW has been mighty kind to Kyle McLaughlin.
I went to the Mar-T Diner back in the day. The pie was really good, and the Japanese tourists were thick as, well, tourists. It was a big hit there.
