?1386610097837WASHINGTON -- The Michigan Republican Party is seeking to increase its visibility in Democratic- and minority-heavy Detroit, and last week, it brought Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) to the city to open the party's African-American Engagement Office. But if anything, the launch event put into stark relief just how much work the GOP has to do, when a largely white audience turned out to hear the senator speak.

(37,549 posts)My first day here. Fed up with Huffington Post as they want you to link to Face Book. Went looking for a new place to vent that didn't require I do the absolute ridiculous to speak my mind. Glad I found this place!

(14,087 posts)It has to mean white fat people. I'm a white fat person, but I sure as hell wouldn't be in Rand Paul's audience.
What are these large white people plotting to do? Trick black people into thinking that somehow their agenda would in ANY way benefit black people? Their first problem is thinking that black people are going to be tricked. Ha!
They SO DON'T GET their problem.
(sorry for shouting...I'm LOUD sue, especially today. )

(1,451 posts)We warned that he was coming. The only black people that were there were reporters. We have a local Fox station hear. And they are biased as all get out. We believe in separate but equal too. We separated our selves from the equally stupid people people you see in that picture

(1,451 posts)anyone of color in. Its that way whenever they come to town. they come to our city and the residents of the city are not welcome. Its easy to talk hard when you have no opposition.

(14,087 posts)Unfortunately, especially here in the south, there is being raised a whole new crop of gun-toting, neo-nazi racist 20 and 30-somethings. This area of North Carolina is crawling with them. And, again, it's Fox news. That station should be banned. Some free speech is just propaganda, and should be labeled as such.

(63,912 posts)diverse and more tolerant. I've seen my own home town, Dallas, become a better place than it was when I was growing up there. In fact, my old neighborhood there is now where many of the city's gay population choose to live! And wait til the whole state gets Wendy Davis as it's governor!

(429 posts)He deserves credit for his attempt to reform the justice system by ending mandatory minimums for drug offenses. Some of the Democratic Party still isn't on board with that.
But has anyone actually seen his proposal for helping out struggling cities like Detroit?
Yeah, tax cuts.

(36,437 posts)You really have to work hard to take a picture in Detroit with no black folks in it. That's a rather stunning accomplishment!

(10,893 posts)to speak at these Black events? This happens to be the same guy who refused to say whether he supports the Civil Rights Act, and whose father reportedly had White supremacists donate to his campaign. Hell, even that sellout Herman Cain would've been a better choice. This was just dumb right here...
