Unsurprisingly, I'm finding it difficult to find much else about this.

Anyone here know anything more about this?

(5,078 posts)DCA is no panacea. It might work, it might be too toxic to use, it might be marginal.
So, turn down the hype, and wait for the clinical studies.

(15,189 posts)In 1974 Virginia Tech did a study on the effects of Marijuana on cancerous tumors, and it shrunk them. Did they use this for the good? NO! Our government hid this result. I often wonder if they really have a cure, but aren't using it. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

(130,908 posts)'Pharmaceutical companies are not investing in this research because DCA method cannot be patented, and without a patent they cannot make money. Theyre currently making fortunes with their AIDS patent. Since the pharmaceutical companies wont develop DCA drugs, independent laboratories should start researching DCA more to confirm all of the above findings and begin producing drugs. All of the groundwork can be done in collaboration with the universities, who will be glad to assist in such research and can develop an effective drug for curing cancer.
This article hopes to raise more awareness of dichloroacetate, and to hopefully inspire some independent companies and small startups to pick up on this idea and begin producing life-saving drugs
because the big companies wont be touching it for a long time.'

(40,416 posts)Cancer is not a single disease. It's a spectrum of diseases. The is zero chance that there is a single cure for cancer.
Advances for treating cancer are incremental, and there is much progress on many cancers which were formerly a death sentence are now living normal lifespans.
Your link goes to a site that has all the indicators of quackery.
Again, there is no single cure for cancer because it is not a single disease.

(2,431 posts)Hence the OP. It looked suspicious, but this looks like some promising research getting buried under a bunch of hype, wishful-thinking, and... Quack.

(4,558 posts)My wife has cancer, and these stories caught my eye last year. Basically, it's a chemo drug that shows some effectiveness, just like any other chemo drug. The real controversy is that it is cheap and not being used, but it is not a miracle drug.
The medical community (especially the cancer community) do not use hyperbole. When you see words like "cure" or "miracle" in a story, you're not getting the facts.
