I just signed up in California.
Pretty much the same plan, with a big subsidy.
I would still prefer a system where we paid for health care out of our taxes and everyone was just covered and all the profit-seeking parasites would just wither away, but this is going to make my life a whole lot easier.
Is it sustainable, especially if not enough young people come onboard (see paragraph above)? I dunno, but in the meantime, that's about $600 that is staying in my pocket and not going to the insurance company.

(25,253 posts)I thought it sounded like a great tag line for a TV ad campaign for signing up for ACA/Obamacare.
Just think of it - 30 seconds or 1 minute of people from all over the country -all ages, all races, male and female - looking into the camera and saying - "My Health Insurance Premium Went Down - Thanks Obama"
It would seem like a great way to motivate others that are sitting on the fence to sign up - and I think it would go a ways to increase the President's popularity as well. I think his poll numbers would go up.

(3,300 posts)That way the right can't say anything because they coined the term. And they can't say Obama is trying to make it all about himself.
The best part - they still have to hear "thanks, OBAMA(care)!!"

That, friends, is why the ACA does not suck. Good for you, CG!

It is also true that the $600 is straying in your pocket so good for you!

(18,672 posts)And am wondering why anyone would not be less than ecstatic after going through the process. If you're making a lot of money, this is a much better investment. If you were to get sick under your old plan, you would likely not only lose everything you've worked for, but you would be tens of thousands of dollars in debt if you were lucky. It might take a little longer, but Americans are going to finally "get it" when it comes to healthcare. This thing is going to grow exponentially, I guarantee it!

(26,355 posts)Going through Colorado's site, since I'm an impoverished college student, living on student loans while I finish my Master's, looks like that means I no longer have to pay $220/mo for the university's health insurance - now I'm on Medicaid.
Hey, I'll take it! Even if it turns out I'm not eligible, the Bronze plans on the exchange are cheaper!
Thanks Obama!
