Odd question about Mitt getting beat in Dixie

And let's be honest, he is getting beat up in Dixie. He has Florida and VA, which are two state which are this close to being northern due to former New York Transplants.

A) Does Dixie shun him, if so why?
B) does this mean he will try to get a real Dixie running mate?

he would have easily lost there if santourm and/or gingrich were on the ballot.

in florida his win wasn't that impressive either. if people only voted on election day and without the early voting i hear he would have lost there also.

2. A is easy to answer

Two reasons.

First, it's because he's Mormon. For decades, the religiously insane (predominant in the south and the GOP's base) has been told by their religious leaders - from Falwell on down to the preachers in the smallest backwoods churches that Mormonism is a cult (it is), and Mormons aren't true Christians.

Second, he just hasn't got the personality to connect with Southerners (or most humans for that matter). If he took his opinions and positions as far to the loony right as Santorum and Newt do, he might have been able to overcome his personality problem somewhat, but that's not who he is. He's flipping between trying to be as far right as possible and yet still keep a slight veneer of being a moderate.

Stink, he probably cant connect with the reflection in the mirror. He always looks so uncomfortable up there. Like he is trying to hold in a poo.

Between him and Ron Paul. Had Santorum been on the ballot, would Virginia be in the Romney basket?

4. Cant win the South with a southerner

gotta have it. McCain got Palin who, though from Alaska, was about as waffle house as you can get.

Tea Party is a big part of American politics today.

If Mitt wants to win, he needs a Tea Party southerner type person.

You can't stuff like that. It is on your Wiki, Mitt and might as well be on your Driver's License.

You can't renounce your legislative accomplishments in Massachusetts that once made you proud. Were those accomplishments mistakes?

You can't be a member of a religion that other religious people view as a cult or offshoot of Christianity that pretty much exists only in Utah.

You can't visit as Nascar race and admit you do not follow the sport.

You can't claim you ate "cheesy grits". It's cheese grits. And if you didn't get it from the Waffle House or a mom-and-pop diner...

And no, picking a Southerner for Veep won't help Mitt. Who would want that slot, anyway?

As to the running mate - I dunno, me. Are there any viable ones left? Rick Perry is a male Sarah Palin, the VA gov. has burned himself, Newt can't shut up........ Maybe Old-B-Ron?

9. Anyone who thinks the south would vote for a black guy over a white Christian* repub is an idiot

N. Carolina will go red. Don't know about Va.

The rest will be solidly republican. It will, as it always does in close elections, come down to Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania.

I see no reason why it won't happen again, especially since the convention is being held here. I'm going to do my part to make sure NC goes blue.

12. PA has voted for a Dem president since 1988

Don't believe the media hype. This state knows that full Philadelphia turnout (including rim county metro Philly) makes the difference which is why all the efforts at voter suppression going on right now here in the state with Jim Crow Voter ID bills.

It's ironic that PA has similar state voting patterns to NJ (back and forth with Dem/Rethug governors & legislatures) yet no one ever called NJ a "swing state". Hell, NJ voted for Ford (1976) & Shrub Sr. (1992) when PA went for Carter (1976) & Clinton (1992). There were > 1,000,000 more registered Dems after 2006/2008 then rethugs here. The main issue is off-year election turnout.
