While the "lamestream" CNN and "GOP-hating" MSNBC were meticulously covering Tuesday's Republican contests in prime time, Fixed was running regular programming.
You see, Murdick & Co. want the nomination race to be over, having settled for Romney and wishing to give the flip-flopping fuck plenty of time to get his lies straight before taking on Obama. Santorum has thrown a monkey wrench into their preferred narrative. Thus, they only discovered (gasp!) there were primaries going on after the octogenerian GOP base had gone beddie-bye.

(20,818 posts)what the GOP is up against. Romney, the alleged "front runner", simply isn't connecting with the base and will not win the south (although he does better in the more libertarian-leaning west), nor are GOP voters all that excited about him and the voter turnout in November won't be as energized because of that. However, the candidate that DOES excite the south and that will do well there, as he's just shown, (Santorum), WILL NOT NOT NOT have ANY chance in the general election, and especially not with independents, women, latinos, etc. So they're really stuck up a tree at this point. Aww, so sad. Too bad. Giggle. Tee-hee. Snort.
This reminds me of the Dems in 1988, we had the same weak field and the same situation. Although the Reagan cult was still so strong at that point that I'm not sure if anyone could have beaten Poppy Bush.

(13,133 posts)They traditionally were the ones calling for moderation and conservatism (even though they did other things when they got in there). The only thing they can find now to rally the troops is radical change but they just can't agree on what that change should look like. This is fun only as long as they cannot make up the their minds.
Here is to indecision going long time

(11,175 posts)I don't deny the amusement value in watching the circular firing squad. By the end of the primary season, though, the Republicans will be poised to nominate Romney -- the candidate who, of the four survivors, will give Obama the toughest fight.
The biggest benefit of a drawn-out contest is that Romney will have to continue to emphasize his "severely conservative" credentials. This will make it harder for him to flip back to Moderate Mitt, the one who'd have the best chance to win the general.
