I have seen this image many times over the decades. Until moments ago I didn't know the fate of that little girl. The above link provides the happy news that she survived the attack and is the mother of 2 children, lives in Canada and has a pretty good job too!

I wonder why that is.

The ones whom one would think would want that end the most have also been his least reliable backing, at least on the internet.

Base building is another form of being a "Professional"; it's unfortunate that more people aren't careful what they ask for, since if they manage to get what they want to one extent or another, in really complex and somewhat less than authentic contexts, that can REALLY result in death and destruction to others.

If/when NATO fails in Afghanistan, there is no future for women in that country. But nice try. I thought the cartoonist was joking with comparing saying Fuck, to having acid thrown in your face, but... I mean, they don't even speak a word of English, so they wouldn't even fucking know what we are saying but.... *sigh*

So, what the hell. Keep the killing going for PR. Which is what this war has been all about since the beginning.

I heard somewhere that President Kennedy faced this very problem with Vietnam. If true, then I confess an inability to see the wisdom of how his or President Obama's solution was worth the money, pain, and death. With hindsight, what respect even did we gain!?? I think this line of thought worthy of a new thread.
