From being fired for using contraceptives to using aspirin GOP initiatives get more crazy every day. You have to wonder what is next.
I think the next thing will be women being prosecuted for crossing state lines to get family planning or even an abortion no less. If you live in a state where family planning is non existent or certain procedures are illegal the GOP will probably propose jail time for going to get the procedure where it is legal.
Nothing is too twisted for a republican.

Thanks to the Bushes.
Never let an exchange with a RWer go by without including the FACT that they are only repeating what RevMoon and Murdoch want repeated by their loyal media followers.

(16,646 posts)Remember when McCain ran around announcing that, all the while the market was crashing like '29? He ended up sounding just as crazy as he was.
Now you've got Santorum, and to some extent Romney, running around talking about how the stimulus was a failure, and the jobs situation isn't getting better, and Obama is "making things worse". They are saying this while consumer confidence is on the rise, the markets are up, and employment is going down. It ain't sellin' in Detroit and it may not sell in the general election, if the situation stays nominally on its current trajectory. Even gas prices, which will probably rise over the summer (they always do) may see a "relief" in the fall as we move towards the general election and the GOP will sound like idiots talking about "rising gas prices" when everyone sees them going down.

(14,337 posts)talking about women being more interested in jobs, etc., The point will be moot to women how many jobs are available if she is a slave to reproduction and has more children that she wants or can care for. How the hell do they think she will be able to work? Even at my age when I was childless, I had employers asking me when I was going to get married, how many children I wanted, what I would do with them, bla, bla, bla. This was in the 70s and in NYC, BTW. You don't have to go that far back, or in some rural area.
Back to that? Working for women will be MOOT if nobody will hire her based on the fact that she will be giving birth over and over.

(10,440 posts)WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told a constituent in favor of legalizing marijuana that he doesn't support the idea because drugs like pot lead to death.
In a Feb. 14 letter to his constituent, McConnell said he has "serious concerns" about legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes, a topic that the constituent had written to him about. He pointed out that the main ingredient in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol, is already available in pill form for the treatment of certain illnesses.
He is also "troubled" by the fact that many legalization proposals would make marijuana available to the public "without following the scientific processes" of the Food and Drug Administration, McConnell said.
