Cops hit female pro-abortionists
Footage showing police striking unarmed women with batons before arresting them in Madrid on Friday after a protest against abortion reforms has been widely shared on the internet.
The five minute clip was filmed by the group Periodismo Humano at the 500-strong protests in front of the Ministry of Justice.
Demonstrators from the group 'We Decide' had called the protest to demand the resignation of Justice Minister Alberto Ruiz- Gallardón, and the withdrawal of the governments draft law which will restrict access to abortions in Spain..
It passed without incident but clashes took place afterwards in plaza Jacinto Benavente.
On the video, shouts can be heard, then police can be seen apparently pouncing on one of the protesters, leading to a number of confrontations.

New abortion law 'return to dark ages': opponents
After promising in its 2011 election campaign to "reinforce protection of the right to life", Rajoy's government has repeatedly postponed changes to the legislation as it reportedly struggled with internal dissent, angering the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy.
In April, the head of Spain's Catholic Church, Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela, called for an "urgent reform" of the 2010 law, which he said had "led to a rise in the number of abortions to terrifying levels".
Back to another era
Sanchez said there has not been a significant rise in abortions and that there are even signs of a downward tendency....
