Let's face it. Repubs REALLY want to nominate a batshit crazy, unelectable lunatic.

It is impossible to reach any other conclusion. Over and over they poll for anyone but the only candidate who has a semblance of sanity and electability, Romney. Yes, he's bad, but that term is relative. If the crazies get their way and Santorum is nominated the general election train wreck over him will be phenomenal. I wonder if these people really are so stupid they think electing a rightwing fanatic will cut it in the general. But wait, Mrs. Santorum said God has chosen Rick to be president. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Well, more power to them. They are certainly energizing the Dem base, including moi, sending more moderate Republicans over to the Independent category, and generally self-destructing. Hopefully their nominee's losing coattails will drag down congressional and senatorial Rethugs on the ticket. Maybe then this country can start moving in a truly progressive direction.

W saw this coming. Okay, not actually W, he was too stupid too see what was coming down. But his puppeteers knew. They've profited handsomely off the current debacle in the Middle East. They've made millions, billions! That is all these wars were ever about. PROFITS. As long as the power players are cashing in, war will be a good investment. Just like health care. There is no financial incentive to fix either. It's about ROI and shareholder value.

they are interested in the citizens, the country. That's absolute bullshit. They are interested in, as you said, the presidency as an investment. Whatever/whomever will make them the best ROI, that is their game.

It's sooo sad so much of America has been dumbed down severely, but that's part of the plan, of course, too. This, is a nation of sheep.

As much as some people here won't believe it, the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts are being wrapped up, and Obama won't be starting a war with Iran. If your war profiteers are serious, they be doing everything they could to get Mitten nominated with as little pandering as possible, rather than let the nominating train wreck continue.

The money has been made. The profits are on the ledger sheets. Mission accomplished. They made billions, just as they planned. Romney? Who is that douche bag? He's not part of their club. They could give a fuck about Mitt. Profit made, in the bank. Blame it on the black man. Hope people like you will play along.

There is a conservative philosophy, hypothesis really, that election failures are due to the candidate not being SUFFICIENTLY conservative. They opine that anyone who loses, had some fatal nonconservative flaw.

I had some interesting conversations at the end of the W administration with conservatives about his short comings. They regularly suggested his failures were from not being sufficiently conservative. Reagan? All his problems extend from a lack of pure enough conservatism. Bush I? Failure to stick to conservatism.

They are sticking to this plan. They are the INVERSE of the democrats. The dems have pursed the third way/triangulation/moderate approach, constantly presuming that if we just comprise on unions, or gays, or militarism, that we can stay/return to power. The conservatives on the other hand want to "double down", go "all in".

They had 8 years of W, now they want 8 years of...... whatever. Goldwater isn't conservative enough for them.

Maybe then religion can be put under the microscope and examined as the source of a lot of stupid "belief" that replaces thinking. It would be nice to toss religion into the dustbin of history as quaint and outdated thinking. And with Santorum leading the Republican ticket, maybe people will take a hard look at what religion has done for them and what it has in store for them.

And that is they know that all of their candidates are busy making every single issue about religion and morality. They know we're sick and tired of the values voters. They're embracing for a loss and a brokered convention.

So with that in mind: Their plan B. Fueled by insane Koch bullshit talking points, they will attempt impeachment of Obama. Despite that they literally have zero grounds to do so, but they're crazy and stupid enough to try it.

They are saving Jeb and Chris Christie to be the more moderate (seeming) answer in 2016. The economy is still down, because of their policies under Dubya, and they'd rather wait until the Dems dig them out once again so they can have a fresh start and money to blow like after Clinton.

They are not stupid. They know they are pushing the limits, and the daisies if they keep it up. The plan is to set up the populace, and the MSM, to applaud their mind blowing makeover leading up to 2016 where those two will distance themselves from Rush Limpballs and other extremists and say its time to be more inclusive and drop the whole "culture war" meme.

And it probably will work unfortunately. But make no mistake they will be as hardline right as Santorum or Mitt where it counts for the 1% and the MIC.

The money Republicans are backing Romney. The religious right - including the Tea Party - are leaning Santorum and maybe Gingrich. They created a monster for a voting base - now its out of control. JMHO.
