Game On! Recall Dates Set in Wisconsin

This just in:

If primaries are held, voters would go to the polls on June 5 for recall elections involving Gov. Scott Walker, the lieutenant governor and four Republican state senators, under an agreement signed by a judge on Wednesday.

The agreement also calls for primaries - or a general election in the event there are no primaries - to take place on May 8.

Both parties in the recall have also agreed to extend the date for the GAB to certify the recall against Gov. Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch until March 30. The current date for certification was March 19 under an extension granted to the GAB which already doubled the amount of time for certification of the million plus signature recall effort.

The extension avoids holding primary elections on May 1 and a general election on May 29 - one day after Memorial Day. That would have meant that "municipal clerks will face significant difficulties, if not impossibilities, completing their duties in preparation of the election," lawyers for all of parties said in their agreement that the judge reviewed in court.
While the recalls of the Governor and Lt. Governor have not yet been certified, a very small number of signatures have been invalidated, making their recall a virtual certainty.

One step closer to Walkers last day in office.
