This was a horrendous crash in my hometown and helped lead to the elimination of tolls on I-95. My brother was a freshly promoted lieutenant in the fire department and first officer at the scene. Perhaps this will remind people there are things to be discussed beyond whether it would be a regressive form of taxation...

The methods being proposed would actually HELP avoid these kinds of accidents right? Transponders or cameras are the most common.

I used to drive trucks from Connecticut to the Bronx. At the NY state line were a set of toll booths where they changed the procedure so that southbound you drove thru the booths without charge and in the northbound booths the tolls were doubled.There were still frequent crashes in the southbound lanes. It is the presence of booths that cause accidents, not the means of collection.
