REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

Constant whining about DU.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Dec 30, 2013, 11:41 PM, and the Jury voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: That's a Host speaking to a Host, and it's true.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Jeez, alerter, come on. This isn't worth a hide.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Frivolous alerts seem to also fit that bill.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: What??? This is a post. Not an OP. since when can you not whine about DU in post?? Also, transparency and all. This is a very bogus, childish alert.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

What's scary is that this type of mentality is alive and kicking, even in some liberal circles. I had friends who were making this type of comments until I told them off.
All this misconception about people living in rural areas or mobile home communities is sickening and it makes the world an ugly place.

Mon Dec 30, 2013, 11:05 PM
Dec 2013

I first came to the DU forum in 2003.
I wanted to talk about getting John Kerry elected President.
It was important to me to reach out to other people to get Bush out of the White House.

But, Skinner was letting people here get ridiculed for supporting Kerry by letting other people call them Kerryokies, and arguing with them nonstop, even after he became the Democratic Presidential nominee on March 13, 2004.
Wasn't funny to me, so I stopped posting at the DU forum for a long time and decided to make my remarks on another forum.

I never made a single post in the LGBT group at DU because I am not gay.
It didn't matter to me what they were saying in that group or even if they were talking about me.
I respect gays.
And so I left them alone to say whatever they wanted to say to each other in that group.
I never even made fun of Rick Santorum's name when he ran for President last year because I thought it was offensive to gays.

Then in 2008, when I wanted to talk to people about getting Obama elected President, the same thing happened to people who supported Obama.
We were ridiculed and called Obamabots and argued with nonstop, even after he became the Democratic Presidential nominee.

Posting at the DU forum in 2012 was just a repeat of the 2008 election experience, except for one big difference -- the President was a Democrat that we were trying to get re-elected.

The jury system is flawed because Skinner didn't require that the jurors even get involved in the discussions here.
So, people who have made no posts whatsoever can serve on juries.
Gawd only knows what they think.

Funny, I am slowing as I get closer to 50 down but I guess they are some too. My oldest dog at 14 still gets excited for a short hunt. I let him have a hedgerow or two.

I really hope admins look into it. I posted a thread all about it.

I rarely get any posts hidden. DU is not supposed to be a church-like atmosphere, where those who take the most offense the quickest, to anything their humorless minds conjure up as an insult, (which is most everything).

DU would turn into a ghost town if these humorless types take over.

169. Question: do you have your jury blacklist filled out?
Tue Dec 31, 2013, 01:45 AM
Dec 2013

If you don't, that could be one reason that may have made it easier to get your post hidden. Fill it out and put the usual suspects on it, or whoever you think would definitely vote against you on juries, and that might help prevent some hides.

In choosing, give priority to people who are here more and have the highest likelihood of serving on a jury (it's given at the bottom of a person's profile). Example: 100% chance of serving, and thousands of posts in 90 days, that person is a more likely juror. Next, out of those people, give priority to those who often don't post in threads that you post in, because juries are drawn from people who have not posted in the thread.

I highly recommend doing that. And update it once in a while. Just a thought, but a lot of people don't fill that out, or don't know about it. It does make a big difference.

One of the big pluses of a star membership -- that gives you an even bigger jury blacklist to use.

As to the subgroup itself:

This kind of thing happens a lot actually. Right now it's something I care about so I don't feel the need to trash most of the threads but sometimes, yes I feel like trashing a good portion of GD. It will always vary per poster with what they want to see and what they don't. GD has always had posters flood the board with the argument du jour...nothing really new there. It just depends if the argument du jour interests you or not.
