On New Year's Day, Clear Channel flips progressive station KTLK AM 1150 into "The Patriot 1150: True American Values". Gone are Stephanie Miller, "Diverse LA", and Randi Rhodes; in are Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity.
The unfortunate punchline?
Rush calls his affiliates the "Excellence in Broadcasting Network". So the call letters of this new 1150 station?
KEIB.
The link goes to Radio Insight not the Onion!!
while searching for sources for the new station letters the first result was a Freeper thread. Besides the predictable "libtards don't know economics or business and their radio shows suck" comments, some there living in the Inland Empire or outside metro LA objected to Rush being on the weaker signal 1150 in LA rather than the strong 640 (which is replacing Rush with local host Bill Carroll).
As disappointing as it may be that Stephanie Miller's flagship station is going under, the way the new format is rolling out is pretty funny in a dark way. The call sign named after "Excellence in Broadcasting"? The slogan being "True American Values"? The signal being weak enough that listeners in the OC, Inland Empire, etc need new stations for Rush/Sean? Ha ha! This station is basically a tax write off!

(37,341 posts)There should not be any progressive talk radio. Only conservative talk radio. Because we have progressive talk radio, we have to use the term "talk radio" to describe both. If there is only conservative talk radio we can simply call it what it is: "Hate Radio".
Since facts have a liberal bias anyway and music can bring out positive intellectual and emotional responses, news and music would be progressive by default.
The problem is that progressive talk radio is not economically viable because progressives do not think in a manner opposite of conservatives, in other words, two sides of the same coin.

(38,506 posts)She has her own radio app now. Also, she's on satellite radio. Maybe another station can pick her up in the L.A. area. I have hope.
