(5,477 posts)Makes him no less of a Democrat...just different from most of our prominent Dems in that regard.
Just a guess, though. I've already put more thought into it than the actual poster did, I feel sure.

(16,916 posts)I figured it was a butt hurt Hillary drone lashing out to protect the queen bee.

(68,868 posts)We'll see if Schweitzer makes good on his implicit promise to defund the Pentagon.
Also, saying "who cares" about what happened in Afghanistan and then talking about the post-Soviet period along with the "stone age" comment reveals a lack of awareness of recent history (post-Soviet vacuum lead to Afghanistan becoming an international haven for terrorists) and fairly unvarnished racism.
Proud Public Servant
(2,097 posts)I'd say he's spot-on about Afghanistan. It is the stone age there, which is something they did to themselves during their appalling civil war. And there's nothing we can do to redeem it. We need to stop spending our blood and treasure on that lost cause, pronto.

(20,277 posts)or rather, my husband's son can. He did two tours there. He's back in the States now. I asked him what can be done to help the people there. He pretty much said the same thing you did. It's been messed up over there for a long time.

(2,097 posts)But if the current president, after Newtown, couldn't accomplish anything on guns, I'm not sure who could. maenwhile, I'd rather have an economic populist than a Wall Street candidate, regardless of whom teh NRA supports.

(551 posts)So is Rachel Maddow! Sometimes she takes her crew to the gun range in Manhattan.
Rachel Maddow at the Westside Pistol & Rifle Range
TV's top lefty gets her gun
She's America's leading lefty wonk, complete with chunky glasses, Ph.D., and a deep faith in activist government. But Rachel Maddow is also, a little unexpectedly, totally into guns. Which is how come she ended up at the Westside Pistol & Rifle Range in Manhattan for a recent Rolling Stone photo shoot. (Maddow is profiled by Ben Wallace-Wells in the current issue of the magazine.) "I used to bring my radio producers," she says in this clip. "Everyone here's really nice."

(14,971 posts)I like this guy. People (including some Dems according to the polls) like Chris Christie because they perceive him as a "straight talker". Well so is this guy times ten.

(20,176 posts)Given, as a result, I can't really say I'd support him unless my other choice was someone like Hillary but it's good to be able to get a candidate clearly on the record on what he thinks.
