there are no GLBT progressives?
there are no black progressives?
there are no latino progressives?

no female progressives, no young progressives, no retired progressives?
no military progressives? (and what is "stand up for our military" anyway? - I have a bumper sticker that a friend made that says "REALLY support our troops. Don't let them die or kill for oil.&quot
no poor or unemployed progressives?
no teachers, students or union members who are progressives?

Or are we really a COALITION of various "groups" who actually DO have skin in the game on some oif these issues?

I don't really like for those who are part of the "benefit" groups to tell me that all I am here for is to carry water for other people and other issues.

It is regularly said here that "middle class white males" vote against their SELF interest by not voting for progressives. Yet if that list is what progressives stand for, then many white males clearly do NOT have a SELF interest to vote for progressives.

My own list would be very simple.

I stand for the bottom 60%.

Not for retirees. Because some retirees are in the bottom 60% and some are not.

Not for teachers. Because some teachers are in the bottom 60% and some are not.

The bottom 60% is a group that includes a whole lot of white males and also a whole lot of blacks, latinos, women, students, teachers, retirees, military, and yes, it includes ME too.

I have spent most of my life living up to what Debs said "If there is a lower class, I am in it." So it is NOT like I do NOT have some self interest in standing up for the bottom 60%. And I certainly encourage those who are not part of the bottom 60% to also support the bottom 60% (and ditto for the bottom 20%) out of a sense of decency, compassion and fairness.
