Man these conservatives are going to new levels to discredit the poor

Last edited Wed Jan 8, 2014, 02:46 AM - Edit history (1)

I was talking to a friend earlier who forwarded me a news story her father sent her. She wanted to know if I believed it. Apparently in said report they were making claims that pot shops in Colorado were accepting food stamps. The story is satire but apparently conservative sites are picking it up as truth.

I mean, I'm all about (or try to be, no one is perfect) 'fair play' when it comes to dealing with these people but goddamn, how can you compete with outright, bald-faced lies like this on a 'fair' basis?

They are so damn afraid that someone, somewhere may be having a little fun and relaxation that they have to resort to outright lies just to try to stir up resentment in people who are, for the most part, too fucking tired and pressed for time to research this stuff themselves. Nevermind the fact that it should be obvious that it's not true -- I don't even hold that against people. But to be the one who is so scared of someone who isn't them having a good time as to....GAH!

Sorry, venting. Things like this just really upset me. I'm tired of watching my class picked apart again and again and again by these uncaring ticks of humanity all for the sake of turning one person against another.

And it's possible to successfully lie about poor people to folks who aren't predisposed to believe bad things about the poor if they don't come into contact with enough struggling people to realize the lies are utter bullshit.

There are going to be a lot of lies about the poor floated by the GOP in the coming months. So, the question becomes: have the GOP created so many poor people that Americans won't buy their bullshit?

the poor could only buy cigarettes and alcohol with food stamps.

I like this graphic, it shows just how they buy into whatever Reich Wing media tells them. They suck it up like pablum.
