.... But was the governor lying, too?
Christie has said that after checking with his staff, he determined that no one from his office was involved in these lane closings. He scoffed at the very idea that it was political retribution against the Fort Lee mayor for refusing to endorse his re-election, and joked that he had moved the traffic cones himself.
His attempts to laugh this off now appear to be dishonest, though we can't yet be sure that he personally knew about the correspondence of one of his top aides. Still, Christie bears responsibility either way. If it turns out he did know, he is obviously lying and unfit for office -- let alone a 2016 presidential run.
And even if he did not, his officials are liars. If Christie can't control them, how can we trust him as a potential future leader of our country?

(16,254 posts)Every time I see anything about Christie, I think of Christie's wife bouncing down the ramp to the podium on the night Christie won reelection.
If Christie loses his governorship, it will show that his bullying/cocky demeanor is probably not a popular way to act, after all. People thought he was so funny and liked the way he pushed himself around, but for those sitting in a bus or hot van the first day the bridge lanes were shut, revenge is sweet.

And yes, scandals are rather predictable.

(430 posts)And exactly, how many Republicans does this apply to?
If i remember well, on these internet chat boards on Democratic Underground, and elsewhere, "clown car" was prefaced by a selection of adjectives. Often this was directed at the 2012 primary field of Republicans wanting to defeat Barack Obama. Show to me, how there is not a new edition of said "clown car" for 2016 model year?
How many corners of the USA are not populated by such individuals currently in office?

There goes the great white hope of the GOP.
Looks like either Romney takes a third try, another Bush grabs for the crown or we get a Tea Party madman to run against.
