(36,437 posts)In one exchange of text messages on the second day of the lane closures, Wildstein alludes to messages the Fort Lee mayor had left complaining that school buses were having trouble getting through the traffic.
Is it wrong that Im smiling, the recipient of the text message responded to Wildstein. The persons identity is not clear because the documents are partially redacted for unknown reasons.
No, Wildstein wrote in response.
I feel badly about the kids, the person replied to Wildstein. I guess.
They are the children of Buono voters, Wildstein wrote, making a reference to Barbara Buono, the Democratic candidate for governor, who lost to Christie in a landslide in November.

(23,295 posts)Is it wrong that I am smiling? Mr. Wildstein texted Ms. Kelly.
No, she texted back.
I feel badly about the kids, he texted.
They are the children of Buono voters, she said, referring to Mr. Christies Democratic opponent, Barbara Buono, who was trailing consistently in the polls and lost by a wide margin.

(37,449 posts)Samson was referring to a Sept. 13 email sent by Foye, an appointee of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, lifting the lane closings five days after they had been ordered by a subordinate, David Wildstein.
Emails obtained by The Star-Ledger today show Wildstein and the aide, Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Anne Kelly, were corresponding about the planned lane closures in the preceding weeks.
In the wake of Foye's email, Wildstein wrote to Kelly, saying he would elicit Samson's help to retaliate against the reopening of the lanes.
Wildstein, who was hired by the agency with Christie's consent, resigned last month, a week before Christie announced the resignation of Executive Director Bill Baroni, a Christie appointee who was Wildstein's immediate supervisor.

(2,419 posts)It's not just the identity, its the substance of what was redacted. But as to who it is look at page 17. Just after a redacted section:
"Holy Shit, who does he think he is, Capt. America? " referring to whomever it was whose statement was redacted.
"Bad guy. Welcome to our world" is the response to that.
It will be very interesting when the unredacted versions come out.
