Her old format had four simultaneous guests and she was such a great facilitator (and quite funny and witty when improvising). Alex is best when not following a script. This new format is the same ole MSNBC formula. Start the show by repeating snippets of what other MSNBC shows said during the day, then 4 blocks with the host giving lots of exposition before bringing on a guest. Maybe that's what works... Anyone else miss the old format?

(24,096 posts)clips from the other MSNBC people from that day/week, and it goes on and on and on.... and on and it's loud and stupid and annoying.
You really don't get much info from the quick little seizure inducing flashes, I don't know why he does it.
I am supposing you mean Alex is doing this now too?

(4,919 posts)I like her as well, but if you close your eyes and just listen her... Her intros are incredibly long and repetitive. She often even repeats the same sentences and phrases in succession.
I'm not sure if her format changed years ago, or I'm only perceiving a change because I started to listen to the podcast version of the show in bed. This is not meant to be a criticism: Listening to her at night is like Ambien. I depend on it and think maybe I'm absorbing the gist of what she's saying. Plus, I miss the Kent segments that used to close her show.
I think this format is due to MSNBC budget constraints. When they hire new personalities, I think they simplify the format of other shows.
