(36,223 posts)I hope they plan on doing more seasons, even though they only aired 2 episodes thus far. That's how great I think it is. I'm already looking forward to years of watching!

(149,719 posts)I'm glad it's only an hour because it's so intense that I'm all wound up by the end of each episode.
Great television.

(75,480 posts)Brought back some memories, not all pleasant. I did like the way they heightened the weirdness by tying the serial killers method to either Satanism or some other fake witchcraft religion.

(6,262 posts)But then I like dark, gloomy detective shows.
I think it is an extension of the Scandinavian procedurally ala Nesbo, Adler-Olson books, which have grabbed me big time.
Also loved The Killing and the Bridge.
Such books and shows seem to be more complicated and with excellent writing and acting.
Hope the trend continues.

(9,709 posts)I'm already looking forward to next week's episode. The only problem is there's only 6 of them left.. and my understanding is that if it's picked up for another season, it will involve a whole new story complete with a different cast. So, both Harrelson and McConaughey will be gone.

(46,436 posts)I wouldn't have watched except for recommendations here, but with Breaking Bad and Dexter gone, I needed some thing to fill in the empty space. This works nicely.

(111,110 posts)A little over the top with the violence but good story line. In fact, the young lady in last episode of True Detective is also in Banshee.

(28,276 posts)The second episode, where McConaughey's character reveals his background, was riveting. Not for the faint of heart.....

Paladin
(28,276 posts)I notice that in the 2005 interviews, he no longer wears a wedding ring. Not much of a surprise there, given the way things are going....
kentuck
(111,110 posts)Up to this point of the story, he has a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters.
Paladin
(28,276 posts)In the first episode, he followed her into a room to "examine some files." All sorts of things going on, here.
pinboy3niner
(53,339 posts)Harrelson is the one who is denying them. He's struggling to hold it together, but in the end I think he is the one who is most unpredictable and dangerous.
Paladin
(28,276 posts)....given how far out the McConaughey character is at this point. Hey, I'm hooked.

(54,770 posts)But I like Harrelson.
It's a little slow, like Louisianna. Or the actors need a bit more rehearsal. Reminds me of a song that hasn't quite been fleshed out. But, it does have an interesting creepy feeling. I'll watch other episodes.

I don't mind only 8 episodes. Its enough for a good story.
H2O Man
(73,622 posts)One of my sons told me about it. I think it is a very good program. I usually restrict my watching television to "the news" and, of course, boxing. But I definitely find this series to be worth watching.
