TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State University has permanently revoked its recognition of Tau Kappa Epsilon as a fraternity chapter at the school, university officials announced Thursday.
The fraternity was recently suspended following accusations that members held a distasteful party in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Civil rights leaders called for disciplinary action after partygoers were seen wearing stereotypical clothing, flashing gang signs and holding watermelon-shaped cups in photos that surfaced on social media and gained national attention
As a recent graduate living close to campus, I can tell you this is getting a lot of local attention.

(21,054 posts)I remember frats from UCSB...in the 1960s. Except for the SAE's -- who drove Jags -- frat boys were basically living the life of "Animal House." Even the jock frats were OK. It was all sex, more sex, and party time. I cannot imagine any frat pulling stunt like those ASU assholes.

p.s...living in my fraternity's house for 4 years in the Seventy's, are the best memories of my college years.

Tau Kappa Epsilon has disgraced themselves at ASU and I can't imagine the national org and other chapters feeling too good about that.

(15,596 posts)at the end of the article. Intelligence by itself can be a tool
for truly awful stuff. Never been too impressed
by intelligence or degrees, by themselves.
