Queens Man Arrested For Brutal Beating Of Gay Journalist

The NYPD says they have arrested a man who is suspected of beating a gay journalist in Midtown last week. It does not appear the suspect will be charged with a hate crime, despite initial investigations into whether the assault was a bias attack.

According to authorities, 24-year-old Leighton Jennings, a Queens resident, was arrested yesterday. The NYPD believes that Jennings punched 45-year-old Randy Gener in the face on the night of January 17th, causing the accomplished journalist to suffer severe head trauma that has since left him hospitalized with no memory of the attack.
