Just saw Nebraska

I think it's worthy of multiple Oscars. Brilliant in many ways.

"What's wrong with your dad?"
"He believes what people tell him."
"That's too bad."

Truly small-town USA. I forgot I was watching actors.

why have people in these situations accepted such horrible conditions for themselves?

I wonder what has happened to the spirit of this country.

I guess we're all too beaten down to rise up and protest and say NO.

wouldn't that be good...

Dad took what happened without a word of protest. He was so used to being down-trodden, he simply accepted it.
