Chris Christie Mocks Income Inequality, Praises George W. Bush

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Tuesday criticized Democrats' focus on income inequality, speaking in Chicago in one of his first major public appearances since his administration was engulfed by scandal.

"You want income equality? That is mediocrity," he said. "Everybody can have an equal, mediocre salary."

"The debate that needs to be had between the two parties needs to be: Do we want equality of income, or greatness of opportunity?” he added. “The opportunity for greatness excites the American people much more."

During an hour-long question-and-answer session with Greg Brown, the chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions Inc., Christie also took the opportunity to praise former President George W. Bush.

"The guy won two national elections," Christie said. “How easy has that looked the last 8 years. He was, first, an outstanding political candidate. And I think he was grossly underappreciated by his own country and his own party as a politician."

for which he not only had to settle financially, but also had to write a humiliating apology in the newspaper.
Then Bush gave him than US attorney position after he raised loads of money for the campaign.

Wasn't Christie one of the young goons in Florida 2000? Truth be told Christie is the quintessence of a thug - a ReTHUG.

I forgot about Christie getting appointed US attorney by bush.. no wonder he's praising bush(but, does even bush want to be praised by him?). But, hey when he was down before bush picked him up out of the gutter... maybe he's hoping for a redux?

base that is is a 'hard-core' conservative to prepare the way for the presidential primary season that will be dominated by the 'hard-core'?

What Christie and the hard-core base does not realize (or conveniently choose to ignore) is that a majority of republicans is dissatisfied with the distribution of income, realize that it is getting worse and worse and want to raise the minimum wage.

The country as a whole rejected him. Even ignoring the Supreme Court appointment, he only won by a quirk in the system.

I prefer the pattern of the late new deal through 60s, where there was mass competence to excellence.

the mean (not to be confused with median) income in 2011 was $69,821.

However, the republicans wrongfully assume that the lefties want to make everyone earn exactly the same. Maybe I'm wrong in assuming this, but that isn't what the left wants. They want more of the gains from our productivity to flow back down to us at a little more than a mere trickle. They want someone who works 40 hours a week a minimum wage to be able to support themselves without government assistance.

I believe that a person who goes to school and gets a PhD in science or engineering should make more money than a person who drives a bus, but it doesn't mean that the bus driver shouldn't make a livable wage. Minimum wage, in my opinion, should earn you enough money that if two people in a household work 40 hours a week each, that they can live a middle class lifestyle and not need food stamps and other public assistance and they should be able to raise a family with reasonable comfort.

appoint him to a post just like before. It is the Criminal Mind set way of life; getting away with it. GWB got away with 2 elections and escaped a war crimes trial. IMO, Christie thinks Jeb can get away with another one, and also come to his rescue.
