GOP Candidate: Protecting LGBTs From Getting Fired Is 'Segregation'

DANIEL STRAUSS – FEBRUARY 19, 2014, 11:40 AM EST

A Republican congressional candidate in Nevada is arguing that legislation that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is segregation.

The candidate, Cresent Hardy, called the Employment Nondiscrimination Act, which prohibits employers from discriminating against their employees based on sexual orientation, a "segregation" law. The Employee Nondiscrimination Act has passed the Senate, but has yet to be taken up by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. Hardy is running for Nevada's 4th Congressional District. Hardy is a member of the Nevada state assembly.

"When we create classes, we create that same separation that we’re trying to unfold somehow," Hardy said in an interview with the Las Vegas Sun on Tuesday. Mother Jones flagged Hardy's comments on Wednesday. "By continuing to create these laws that are what I call segregation laws, it puts one class of a person over another. We are creating classes of people through these laws."

Hardy also told the Sun that he would "always vote against same-sex marriage" because of his religious beliefs. "For me to vote for it would be to deny the same God that I believe in," Hardy said.

Then they'll know what it's like to be out of work and have door after door shut in your face.

This Turd is a real piece of work. Just look at his supporters. Same folks who bankrolled Prop 8 in California,Mining interests,Ranchers whom haven't paid their cattle grazing payments to the Feds for years, and,a group of knuckle draggers, who have been circulating a petition to prevent the BLM and Forest Service from putting some 300k plus acres of over grazed range land and other sensitive lands into National Forest and protective status.

If you are familiar with the Arizona Strip and the politics of southern Udah, one need not be surprised by these type of candidates. Just another empty fake pandering to the states rights and homophobes, which there are tons of here in Clark County, and he gets a ton of face time in his backyard Gannett yellow rag of a newspaper.

Just another Mike Lee,Ted Cruz wantabe.
