Have you ever heard of or seen a Pallas's Cat? Wow!

What is this crazy cat? It's a Pallas's Cat, and exciting camera trap images from Snow Leopard Conservancy's Nepal team have shown for the first time that Pallas's Cats are living in Nepal! http://wildnet.org/updates/pallass-cat-found-first-time-nepal — with Nanci Aparecida Do Prado, Juan Pablo Mayorga Cortes and Mithun Islam.

You can't tame them. They are an odd throwback that is both vicious and gorgeous.

and cannot be tamed, either. It's a very ancient predecessor of many other felines.

To me, Pallas cats look like a cat evolved to fill a raccoon niche.

The movements are also similar to a raccoon's.

My favorite raccoon video:

Unbelievable how smart he is. If they had just left the garage door open and set food outside, they could have dropped the garage door once he went out to get it. He's clearly looking to get out to get some food, but he's not going to go for the trap bait. He would die of shame if he fell for that trick!

That one in the video totally trumped the humans' plans! I know most people don't, but I like raccoons. They are just gorgeous, especially the babies. I was sitting on my patio last summer, when a mom with her 5, count them, babies climbed down a tree right next to me, and started to partake of treats I had left out, primarily for squirrels, but hey, its an open buffet. Mom was a little nervous about me being so close but the babies seemed just fine. They ate for awhile then climbed right back up. Magical.
