Raging Grannies, other groups protest Google's political efforts

Protests against Google moved from the tech giant's buses to its headquarters on Tuesday, as about two dozen activists traveled to Mountain View to question the company's ties to a conservative lobbying group.

Demonstrators including climate-change activists and the Raging Grannies - dressed largely in crochet - blasted Google for being a dues-paying member of the American Legislative Exchange Council. The group has pushed for stand-your-ground laws and backs efforts to keep discussion of climate change out of classrooms.

A goal of the protest was to make tech workers aware of their employers' political ties, said Brant Olson of the climate-change group Forecast the Facts.
