Republicans call and think feminists are sluts

Yet, in progressive circles in which feminists participate they are sometimes called the opposite ~ prude(s).

I don't get it. Can feminists just be a person, a human being, without attaching what you perceive to be their sexuality in a negative way to them?

Lily Aldridge looks the best to me.

I'd actually prefer a cover of just her. Fr some reason groups of women is just too overwhelming.

As far as the politics goes, true feminism empowers women to do whatever they want to do. From what I've read these women seem pretty proud of thee modeling careers.

I just don't understand when being prude and immature on sexuality became progressive.

Perhaps it's time to clean house ... starting with the hair-on-fire prudes who use their own neuroses and personal dramas as license to act as judge, jury and executioner.

I think you're right

People who claim to be feminists whilst at the same time trying to control, or at the very least, express their displeasure with women who are depicted in magazines such as SI:SE, or the Kate Upton photos, are actually anything but feminist. These are consenting, adult women who CHOOSE to be featured in there photographs -- any opposition to this is an attack on women.

Prudes.

And now women can have all sorts of careers

doing whatever they want to do, including being sex goddesses.

How dare the prudes consider shaming women for that choice as 'progress'.

As I said before... Disgusting

Mmm pretzel bread...

But yes, we must fight back against the prudes lest we become like them.

The above is but a few examples within the past month. I didn't provide links because I didn't want to be accused of calling persons out. Because that is not my intent. I do however wish to discuss why this is harmful to women who fight for equality, legally and culturally. We all know when this gets flung around. It is mostly when objectification is discussed.

Objectification is not sexuality, nor is it sexual attraction.

Objectification means treating a person as a thing, or an object.

It has nothing to do with a persons sexuality or what they find attractive.

Some will always see women primarily as sexual objects. But, of course, they can't help themselves. You know, because of Bonobos and stuff. And some will always see feminists as a threat, because of doors or something.

I'm not sure how else to take it.

All I know is I don't call women sluts, I don't call women prudes. Women are human beings.

I just don't classify those terms in one gender alone.

A feminist can be many things, the same way anything or anyone can as well. Being labeled or accepting a label does not then negate other aspects of a person.

Everyone judges and those who say they dont are liars (I dont mean this towards you).

stirring up trouble by bringing up sexism while at the same GD is littered with threads complaining about "whiners" starting "gender wars". I expect a lot of "not this shit again" posts here which are virtually unseen in those other threads.

If a girls goes out with a guy that other guys think is a loser or jerk but she won't go out with them, she is a slut.

If a girl rejects guys for dates she is a prude.

It is just that simple folks.

Stop giveing a shit what other people think or or say about you and life will be easier.

without the personal sexual habits of the women (and men) commenting being dragged into the argument.

"Prude" has been flying around here left and right around here lately.

As soon as somebody drops that word, or one similar, I know that they can't be taken seriously, because they are trying to shame people based on sexuality. It's a below the belt attack and its truth (or lack thereof) is completely irrelevant.

"Prude" is slut-shaming in reverse. And neither has any place in a discussion on DU.

As you wrote,

Objectification is not sexuality, nor is it sexual attraction.

Objectification means treating a person as a thing, or an object.

It has nothing to do with a persons sexuality or what they find attractive.
