Is there a thread on the little girl abducted and killed in Springfield?

I can't find it.

I live in KC so this is so close to home. And so unspeakably awful. It's just heartbreaking.

Then this morning USA Today has a front page article on the huge proliferation of child porn out on what they called the "dark web." Talk about unspeakable? It is horrendous and spreading. How on earth could any rational man think that stuff is OK or "just normal for them?."

There are good reasons that societies have taboos on certain behaviors.

This is just a thought but could the internet be creating a monster? So many people seem to be going on sites and just letting it all hang out. Like on Whisper. (I just heard about that site but I'm always about 16 years behind). Stuff that most people know they may think about but you know that it is obscene or sick and you better just push it right back down and never, ever act on it.

The web (and BTW, the www is only a small part of the internet) has effectively removed the filters that used to allow the "professionals" to decide what you need to know, and they are not happy about it at all.

I'm from Springfield and saw several Facebook posts right after she was abducted. That was right after it was reported. That's sad.

I don't live there now but still have some family and quite a few friends there. Such awful news.

But were unable to stop him. Sounds like the evidence is pretty solid. I hope he suffers like that little girl. sick sick sick.

Neighbors watched in horror as a 10-year-old southwest Missouri girl was snatched off the street just blocks from her home.

Some had spotted a man in a gold Ford Ranger pickup truck driving down the road in Springfield several times before the driver took off with the girl, investigators said. The residents even called 911 to report the truck's license number.

But the vehicle moved too quickly. And Hailey Owens was gone.

Now prosecutors have charged Craig Michael Wood with first-degree murder, kidnapping and armed criminal action. In filing the charges Wednesday, they alleged that the 45-year-old middle school football coach and teacher's aide abducted Hailey as she walked home from a friend's house Tuesday.

A probable cause statement said the fourth-grader's body was found stuffed in two trash bags inside plastic storage containers in the basement of Wood's Springfield home. She had been shot in the head, according to Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson.
