The new army chief in Ukraine: "He who will follow The Order!"

Changes in the Armed Forces: Why and for What?

Thursday, February 20, 2014, 00:14

By Anatoliy Hrytsenko

I know [former] Chief of Staff and Chief of the Armed Forces General Volodymyr Zamana well: this officer would never agree to the transformation of soldiers or marines into police who, instead of protecting the nation from external enemies, will protect the government from its own people. That’s why Zamana is no longer supreme commander of the armed forces. With these "new" military objectives, they needed another “war leader.”

And they found Admiral Yuri Ilyin. He who will follow The Order! Especially when the Admiral has cordial relations with Vadim Novinsky, a billionaire close to Yanukovych...

In order that the replacement of the highest military commander in the army did not cause anyone among the officers to waiver from the “party line,” President Yanukovych as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces did not force General Zamana into immediate retirement, but moved him to another position—as one of the vice-secretaries of the National Security Council. Formally, he continue as if he is still part of the team, but ultimately he will “go away”.
