If I hitch my wagon to a steaming heap of bullshit and ask people to jump on the boards,

hardly anybody is gonna get on

Some folk will smile. A few might say, Mister, your wagon's hitched to a heap of bullshit! Others could be too polite for that

But hardly anybody is gonna get on. It won't matter if I tell everybody I want to take them all off into the hillsides for a nice afternoon picnic watching tumbleweeds blow across our lovely valley. It won't matter if I'm asking them to help to fetch Doc back town so he can get Daisy Pearl's leg unstuck from behind her neck again after yet another yoga accident

Maybe I could get one or two extra passengers by starting off from in front of the saloon. I dunno. But it won't matter, because no matter how smartly I yell Giddy up! that wagon isn't going anywhere hitched it to a heap of bullshit

14. If you check who's actually getting into the wagon, it's usually the same handful from the saloon

Usually what happens is rumors and enthusiasms

Folk hear gossip about how this wagon will fix problems, and how smooth and copacoetic it's gonna be if only we all climb on, and they get interested and wanna get involved

But when you sneak them into the barn and actually let them peek at the wagon hitched they've been so excited about, most are gonna take one look and think, Wait! That's a wagon hitched to bullshit! cuz most of them really aren't stupid

Some will get mad and call you a liar and storm off home, but if you let them cool a bit without shaming them, they generally realize what they saw

A few of the folk from the saloon, of course, get all wide-eyed and climb into it to cheer

lots of BS trains chugged along for a long while.

Most of our economy is involved in paying not only for BS - which has its place in the garden - but paying also for processes and practices which actually harm us all

13. Yup. And people will also tolerate riding on a bullshit train,

for awhile anyway, if they desperately need to go somewhere and the only other train people say is viable is deliberately heaped with even *more* toxic bullshit.

The Lesser of Two Evils game, along with deliberately limiting the narrative to exclude awareness of the existence of possible other modes of transportation, is a classic way of getting people to accept bullshit.

Now when I see a big old pile of bullshit I kind of look around for that bull cause he usually don't go too far. Out there in that pasture he's usually only doing 3 things.
